Tom Graves on Robert Johnson

Celebrated author Tom Graves came to the studio recently. Jeff & I had a great conversation about the legendary Robert Johnson. Tom wrote THE book about the blues legend. We learned about some of the myths and stories surrounding Johnson and found a lot of truths about him

You'll also hear why the Radio Memphis show Booze & Blues is called that. It was celebration of the life of Robert Johnson, for sure.

Everybody Gets The Blues with Goodson & Taylor

The International Blues Challenge is behind us yet again. It was a large time. I was down there for a couple of the days and managed to bring home a slight case of the Beale Street Crud. Not before enjoying some of the best music in the world performed by some of the best musicians in the world.

Representing Memphis in the Solo/Duo category was Goodson & Taylor. Jeff and I sat down with them just before their appearance and we got a good lesson on songwriting, performance and the real difference between an original tune and a cover.

Ric & Jeff Chew The Fat

We have all referred to ourselves as whores in the radio business. But actual whores working out of an actual radio station is a sight to behold and an amusing story I tell in this episode From Radioland. Jeff Janovetz and I sat down to pick up where we left off from the first episode (sort of) and we get into corporate America, the Peter Principle, the ever changing world of technology, advertising and the aforementioned tale of actually running whores from a radio station.

So, grab a beverage, a sandwich and buckle up, this one get's a little wild.
