Thanksgiving & The Starlite Campbell Band

As we all make our way to this year's Thanksgiving holiday, there are a few things people are needing to keep in mind about just how different this year's celebrations will be. It has been said, "If you plan on a large Thanksgiving, be sure and plan a funeral for Christmas." Dark and grim for sure. However, those are rather appropriate words as Ric will explain in this episode.

Also, Ric and Eljay sat down with Suzy and Simon from The Starlite Campbell Band (who are in Portugal at the moment) to have a talk about how Covid is affecting musicians on that side of the Atlantic and to debut a new song.

NEXT WEEK: Andrew Cole is living the hobo dream.

Brooke Fair

It's always an interesting time when I get to sit down with a teenager to have a conversation. Brooke Fair came into the studio to talk music. Since she is a songwriter, it made perfect sense. But the question does come up, what does a 14 year old write about? The answer, life experiences.

You'll hear her song "Love Songs on Loop" produced by Langston Studios.

Plus, St. Patrick's Day is "rookie night" in this country and chances are, you ain't Irish.

NEXT WEEK: Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response

Back from Europe with Low Society

We have known these guys since 2011. We all met one fateful New Year's evening on Beale Street. They just arrived in Memphis and we just arrived on the air. Ever since, we have been a family of sorts. Now, Low Society, back from their 3rd European tour in 2018, sat down to catch us up.

Jeff and I also got to experience a brand new blues act of which you will hear as well.

NEXT WEEK: John Nemeth has a big van.

Tlaxica

I keep meeting new people in Memphis that moved here because of the music scene. That's pretty cool. Tlaxica, from Tlaxica & Pope did the same thing. She sat down with me in the studio to talk about why she came to Memphis and she managed to sneak onto the air some cuts from their forthcoming EP.

Plus, she is fairly well known in the gospel scene and we talked a little about that as well.

The government may be kind of shut down, but we aren't.

NEXT WEEK: Memphis Deep

Keith Douglas & Duwayne Burnside

It's a first for this show. Two guests in one action packed episode. First up is Keith Douglas, guitarist for Tora Tora. Keith talks about the history of this great rock band plus he shares the news about the brand new album headed your way very soon.

Next up, Duwayne Burnside sits down with Jeff & I to talk about his new CD plus many other things including the definition of "Burnside Style". And if that wasn't enough, Duwayne and his band played a few tunes in this wild episode From Radioland.

Ms. Zeno The Mojo Queen

She will put a spell on you. This episode is a bit different. At her insistence, we are releasing the entire broadcast from the Booze & Blues show a couple of weeks ago. We went through Ms. Zeno's new CD, track by track.

We also talked about how the CD was recorded, who is on it and what is coming up next with her.

Sit back and relax and listen as Ms. Zeno The Mojo Queen takes us on a cool musical trip.

Eddie Dattel & Wally Ford Talk Songwriting

Songwriting is the art few people will talk about. Who knows why? But, not in this case. I got to sit down with these two guys as they talk about Eddie's new record called Another Side of the Sun. They play a bit from that collection and there are couple of songs played from the disc itself in this episode.

Plus, wrapping up 2017. Whatever that means.
