I was recently in Texas (long story) and had a bit of time to myself on the way back. It's an 11 hour drive. During all this time, I started noticing a couple of interesting patterns out there. Apparently, billboard advertising space must be had on the cheap since most of the one's I saw were outdated or had "Advertise Here" on them.
There is something else rather interesting out there. A lot of porn shops in the middle of nowhere.
Plus, Jeff and I spent some time with one of the greats. Booker Brown. He had with him Albert Sutherland on guitar. Then, all of a sudden, Willie Hall showed up to play some drums.

Mistakes Were Made
Part of my experience in this business was spent at Clear Channel Communications. That is now known as I Heart Media. Apparently, it is about to be known as Out of Business. To be fair, we saw this coming more recently. Farther back in time we suspected if the company didn't do anything more smart than what they were doing, the end was inevitable.
That apparently has come. The end is near. Like, the end of this month near.

Up A Certain Stream Without A Paddle
If it is one thing I have been blessed to be a part of, is that I have absolutely enjoyed having a front row seat to this current change in digital media. Watching AM become irrelevant practically overnight has been a delight. As for FM, this is like watching ineptitude at it's peak. The world is racing by and these stuffed suits over there in terrestrial radio are STILL trying to convince the public at large that they still matter.
Whatever, dude.
Plus in this episode, music from The Candy Company.

I'm Not Supposed To Be Here
Seriously, I am not supposed to be here. Okay, maybe not so much. However, it is a great line to use in your office. But, that is not the whole content of this episode.
People often complain about their lives. I am certainly guilty of that. At least as much as the next guy. Having said that, you are the only one who can fix your problems and I wanted to vent a bit about how difficult little things can be, at least for me. I have found a fix, this podcast. Does it solve all my problems? Nope. But it does make those little annoyances a little easier to bear for me.
Do I have the cure for all your ills? Nope. But, this is a distraction for you and if this episode helps you with that, perfect.

NEXT WEEK: Understanding the fine art of flipping a radio station format and how it affects the listener. HINT: It rarely goes well.
Thanks for time and thanks for listening.
