Petty Bastard

You might think we as a society have become more petty about everything. Truth is, we are just as petty now as we have always been. So, what makes it seem like we are more nuanced about life's little ridiculous situations? Social media. The one thing Facebook does extraordinarily well is magnify every little thing and feeling people get from time to time.

The rest of us may merely roll our eyes at these posts but for the one making that post, they are deadly serious. It's kind of like when people ask for unspoken prayers. What they are actually asking for is a little bit of attention.

In this episode, Ric gets petty himself as he looks into the hypocrisy of the human condition through the eyes of social media.

NEXT WEEK: Death to the disc.

The Superb Owl and Sean "Bad" Apple

Those of you who know me will know my feelings regarding the NFL and it's absurdities. The big game is certainly the pinnacle of this absurd pastime. Nevertheless, there are a lot of people who put a lot into the sport and its outcomes. All of this, to me at least, makes the whole thing kind of silly. I certainly don't put much stock in the thing. You can tell, because this post and the attached episode of the show was done during the game.

Also in this episode, Jeff and I sat down with Sean "Bad" Apple to talk about the business of the blues as well as hear a little of what this man does just about every day on Beale Street. He's a one man band and is one of the more impressive artists we have had the pleasure of spending time with.

Weather & Sports

Harking back to my days in the television industry, I found myself talking about the weather and sports. No joke. Also, I decided to provide a little social commentary regarding Memphis drivers. Everyone has an opinion about the way people here operate 2,000 pounds of mobile steel.

Regarding sports, you probably won't like what I have to say about it. In general terms of course, I will explain to why I think NASCAR and the NFL sucks. Oh yeah, I'm going there.
