Massimo Bevilacqua Is A Machine

One of the great American imports is our friend Massimo Bevilacqua. He stopped into our studios recently with his brand new CD entitled Naked. It was a great time learning about the music scene in his native Italy and how he fears for the upcoming generations. You'll also hear why he called "The Machine".

Plus, is it me or does the world seem a little extra depressing? Guess what, there is some help.

An Existential Crisis

It happens. Most of us choose not face these things, but when you do, somehow certain things take on a bit of clarity. This is kind of what I have gone through this week. Along the way, I did learn about a fascinating place here on Earth I never existed.

It was for me at least, a bit of an eye opener. Hence the crisis.

Mind you, it wasn't a full on breakdown or mind blowing experience. But in the proper perspective, it something I can take with me through the remainder of my days knowing these things are very real.

Plus music from Tiger High.

The Internal Interview

This episode gets a little dark. The reason is simple enough, we all have these little conversations going on inside our heads where something seems to be questioning every little thing we do. Every decision about to be made, even as our day to day living comes under scrutiny... by ourselves.

It's kind of what makes us who we are. However, those questions tend to get a little difficult. Coming from the perspective of what I do for a living, these little internal interviews become a little abusive. That again, is what makes all of us tick on some level.

Speaking of "tick", I began wearing a wristwatch again. Why?

Plus music from Objekt 12.

Caught Up In The System

It is part of life, "the system". It is the basis behind making a society a civil society. It's pretty simple, really. Do what you are reasonably supposed to do to avoid getting caught up in "the system".

Recently, I got stopped by the police.

Then I got caught up in "the system". Did I go to jail? Nope. But now, on top of a ruined day, I now have a date with a court judge.

Plus, music from Glorious Abhor.

Tick F'ng Tock

Since I got involved in this business of entertainment, I have always felt the presence of a clock of some sort. For the most part, I simply ignored it. Now, things are different. Working for yourself, you find there is a real pressure of the presence of time. It looms over you like the evil specter of death.

Okay, that may be a little dramatic. Then again... there is serious pressure. You want so much to make all your efforts worthwhile. You become intimately aware of a couple of major things. Failure and the fear of time simply running out.

Maybe you are experiencing the same anxiety. If you are, I feel you.

Plus music from River City Tanlines.

NEXT WEEK: Televangelists, tent preachers and how to get kicked out of a church. Plus music from Mark "Muleman" Massey.

NOTE: From Radioland will not be video taped for the time being. This is due to the simple fact listeners are getting more from the audio only version than from the video version of the show. Mainly due to YouTube's weird rules on the performance of music.

You People, My Therapists

Life is tough. It can be so much more difficult if you do nothing.

That is not some poignant saying I found somewhere on the web. I just thought of that on my own. The thing is, it's true. At least, from my perspective. The past several years have been a real fight to survive. Probably more than it should be for a guy like me. Here's the thing. I'm okay with that now.

In this episode, I had a bad several moments before sitting down to record the thing. "Bad moments?" you ask. Nothing Earth shattering. Like anyone else, I have good days and bad days. And like everyone else, some are worse (and better) than others.

The thing about this episode is that I have learned to cope with these things. In some sort of way, this show IS my therapy. Hey, if it happens to relate to you in some sort of way, that is good. Maybe, I have helped you.

I hope you enjoy it.

A quick note. For some strange reason, the computer I was using to record this thing was acting sort of funny (to add to my woes) and there is a couple of really small parts of this episode where it sounds like it is sort of skipping. I have since solved the issue and you may not even notice it here. But, it is the least I can do to let you know that I am aware of the issue.
